BLOCKINGWOOD
Her creation of woodblock art started from 2000 and since 2010 she has introduced her art work as “BlockingWood.”
She has been attracted to the charm of woodblock art since junior high school. She then started creating woodblock
pieces after encountering a fusion of woodblock spirit and ukiyo-e technique, under the guidance of the woodblock
artist, Yoshida Hiroshi. She aims to propagate not only the delicate and beautiful aspects of woodblock art, but also
its graphical elements.
BlockingWood was born in 1983 in Tokyo, Japan. She studied at University of Tsukuba School of Art and Design
BFA and graduated in 2007. Recent solo and group exhibitions include “Art Salon Hillside Terrace,” Hillside Terrace
